Honeydew Boba is the ultimate creamy, dreamy bubble tea—made with juicy honeydew melon, a touch of matcha, milk, and addictive chewy boba pearls. It’s refreshingly sweet, perfectly sippable, and ridiculously easy to whip up at home!
2 Boba Wide-Mouth Straw To accommodate the boba pearls. Regular straws won't work because the boba is too large to fit through them.
Ingredients
1cupHoneydew melonFresh, ripe, and cut into chunks
1/2cupMilkdairy or non-dairy
1/2cupWater
1tbspHoneyor brown sugar or maple syrup
1/4cupBoba pearlsmade to order
1/3tspMatcha green tea powderyou can use 1/3 cup of green tea
1countHandful of ice cubes to add to the blender for a nice chill
Instructions
Make Boba Pearls
Add three cups of water to a medium-sized pot and bring it to a boil.
Add the tapioca pearls and let them simmer on medium heat. The cooking time depends on your desired texture: for softer pearls, cook for 8–10 minutes; for chewy boba, cook for 5–7 minutes.
Once cooked, turn off the heat and let the pearls sit in the hot water for another 5 minutes.
Drain the boba and transfer them to a bowl. Add a tablespoon of brown sugar or maple syrup and stir gently to coat.
Blend the Base
In a blender, combine the honeydew melon pieces, milk, water, and matcha powder (if using). Blend until smooth and creamy. You can add three ice cubes here to taste.
Assemble and Serve
Place the cooked boba pearls in the bottom of a glass or cup, then fill the serving glass with ice cubes.
Slowly pour the blended honeydew milk mixture over the ice and boba pearls. Enjoy your freshly made honeydew milk tea immediately!
Notes
I highly suggest buying extra-wide straws designed to accommodate the boba pearls. Regular straws won't work because the boba is too large to fit through them.
Be sure to use a strainer for the boba pearls? After they're cooked, you'll need a strainer to drain tapioca pearls. This helps remove excess starch and ensures they're ready to add to your drink.
Always use a fresh and ripe honeydew melon for a naturally sweet drink.
Taste the boba pearls after cooking. Before draining, ensure they're perfectly chewy or soft, how you like them.
If you are using matcha powder, go easy on it. A little goes a long way.
