Loves, did you know that the concept of using mirrors to create a sense of space and light in a room dates back to ancient times? Romans used polished metal disks to reflect light and make their rooms feel larger and brighter. This technique is still widely used in modern interior design to enhance the ambiance of a space.

This is why I placed this gorgeous crescent mirror above my fireplace. It beautifully reflects the light of the large window across from it, making my living room much more significant and brighter. It’s little details like this that elevate a space in an instant. Even better? There are so many affordable mirrors with every possible design aesthetic out there. Grab an affordable mirror today and reflect that light for a brighter, more cheery space. You got this one detail at a time!

The thing is, I’ve been thinking about mirrors lately as we made all our final selections (and purchases) for the cabin bathroom. I am hoping we can start the demo in two weeks. Does anyone think we can make it? Side note – I can’t wait to fill it with my favorite low-light hanging plants for a lush look. It’s going to be a jungle – sorry, not sorry. Y’all know I love my plants.

Oh! One more thing. We purchased the Ripple sconce in the Tumeric colorway. Matte black was fantastic, but this colorway is even more incredible. It will be the perfect pop to the space to keep people talking. You know, every room needs a wow moment. Thanks to you all for helping me make the right choice. I can’t wait for you to see it installed.

That being said, I need to start thinking about the library and dining room area. Since the cabin rests in the shade of an ancient redwood tree, we need to pull in the light from the outside and bounce the golden glow through those gorgeous cathedral windows all over the space. Mirrors are a perfect way to do just that! P.S. I never was able to start sanding the framing last weekend. It was 96 degrees that weekend, and I couldn’t take it. Rest assured we will hit that next time. Stay tuned for a tutorial on how to restore wooden window frames soon.

As summer is in full swing, we love whipping up to the cabin for a weekend day drip. There’s no more rain (we got ninety inches last year), but the well works perfectly. We have yet to have an empty tank! What a win. Our backyard deck continues to be a dream and the perfect place to relax with a cocktail and a good book. I’ve been reading “The Last Time I Lied.” by Riley Sager” when the afternoon sun is too hot to do anything. If you love an easy murder mystery. This has been super fun! I spent a lot of time choosing the perfect pieces from @industrywest to make the space a true oasis. Check out the pieces here for inspiration on your backyard patio.
