Hey everyone! Can you believe how the New Year always sneaks up on us? Christmas was a bit of a blur for me, thanks to a persistent flu bug (gross, I know), but the holiday spirit prevailed. Now, here we are, already thinking about resolutions and fresh starts. Time has a way of slipping through our fingers. As I nurse my post-holiday sniffles, I can’t help but get excited about the plans lining up for the New Year, especially the ones involving our cabin.

Cabin in the woods.

But before we jump into the fun cabin updates. I was finally able to shake off my sick haze and decided it was high time to break free from the cozy comfort of my bedding. Went out for a fun lunch at one of my favorite spots in San Francisco – Stonemill Matcha. They have a divine match cheesecake and the best pork Katsu sandwich in the city. I swear!

Person holding a stack of three sandwiches.

I then treated myself to a fancy black tea chai latte from Wrecking Ball – because why not, right? It was the best Chai I have ever had. So all in all a good post-sickness day.

Two cups of tea.

Also, I fell in love with this oversized herringbone blazer. Secret? Being a little small framed I can get away with a woman’s coat now and then. It looks so good on. I can’t wait to wear it to work in the new year. Is anyone else treating them self post holiday?

Now, San Francisco has the best views and amazing thrift spots, but it’s also a playground for coffee lovers, and I’m curious: Do you have a go-to spot in the city, or are you more of a “brew your magic at home” kind of person? Oh, and speaking of brewing magic at home, check out my cold foam guide for making your everyday at-home coffee magic. It’s a game-changer!

Okay, I know you’re dying to know about the recent cabin updates. Last week, we wrapped up-ish some of the major systems for the home exterior – a UV filter, a shiny new pump, and the electrical box upgrade. As I am typing this we are here testing the increased flow, and dare I say being able to cook. I’m so excited. Head to my Instagram stories today for the latest. But now, my attention has done a complete 180, and I’m knee-deep in the fun part of interior design. Since I was sick, I was able to do a lot of computer work and sourcing on a few paint color options too. I fell in love with Tonester Paints– specifically three options; Mistinted, Urban Gallery, and even Angels Cry. I mean, how cool are these moody tones, and isn’t the name of each color a riot? It’s a hot debate on which color will go best in the loft bedroom. I’ll be bringing some samples up next trip – so we. can decide.

Numbered items including a chair, books, and pillow.
1. Mid Century Chandelier / 2. Decorative Books / 3. Industrial Yellow Lamp / 4. Pleated Linen Drapes / 5. Mid Century Modern Bed Frame / 6. Leather Lounge Chair / 7. Faux Fur Throw / 8. Yellow Flip Clock / 9. Olive Green Checkered Rug / 10. Linen Duvet Set / 11. Velvet Throw Pillow / 12. Solid Wood Armoire / 13. Potted Laurel Tree / 14. Checkered Wool Throw

So, here’s the scoop: I’ve completely, just completely changed the direction of the design. Sorry Library color debate – no more English cottage for me. I want to lead with the home’s late 70’s architecture to set the tone of the design and go a little more mid-mod academia in aesthetics. As such, I whipped up a new cabin mid-mod academia mood board for the loft suite that I hope helps convey the more sophisticated and edgy approach. Do ya feel it? Reply to the email and let me know your thoughts. Really! Let me know. I promise to reply.

I’m completely obsessed with this new design and you guys loved it too! Thanks for all the love. This is why it’s so important to “live,” in a space as much as you can before committing to a design direction if you can. Room with wood floors, ceiling, and shelves.

It’s now a more sophisticated yet fusion of modern patterns, with retro textures, and a pop of sleek mid-century modern. Of course there is a ton of my signature weaving in of both old and the new to create that moody cozy vibe I insist upon.. And guess what? I’ve got some shoppable links for you, because who doesn’t love turning inspiration into reality? Let’s dive into the looks for less below:

Mid-Century Chandelier

Chandelier hanging above a table.

First up, we have this mid-century chandelir. It’s the time-traveling beacon, instantly whisking us back to the ’80s, setting the stage for that nostalgic ambiance I’m infusing into every nook and cranny. It’s playful & fun and the perfect pendant light.

Decorative Books

Earthy-colored books on a white background.

Next, I found this decorative book stack to add to the room for a fun pop of color. Placed on a shelf or table, it’s basically the visual storyteller of the room, making you want to dive into its earthy hues – a beautiful home accent to your cabin bedroom.

Industrial Yellow Lamp

Yellow table lamp on a white background.

Okay, I love this industrial yellow lamp. It adds the perfect splash of whimsical vibes and a pop of color for the cabin bedroom that works aesthetically with the rest of the patterns and textures.

Pleated Linen Drapes

Pleated linen drapes hanging in front of a window.

Let’s talk about these pleated linen drapes stealing the show in the cabin bedroom—evergreen and plaid, hitting all the right notes! This pattern is hands down one of my favorites from the mood board, wrapping the room in a cozy embrace.

Mid Century Modern Bed Frame

Wooden bedframe with built-in shelves.

Okay, let’s talk about this mid-century modern bed frame stealing hearts in walnut—a true obsession of mine, especially with that headboard storage. That shelf is the perfect place to put your pops of color – if I’m not going to have my four poster bed, then I will take this one!

Leather Lounge Chair

Black leather lounge chair with matching ottoman.

This leather lounge chair, sleek in black, seamlessly fits into the cabin bedroom’s vibe. This chair isn’t just for lounging; it’s a design choice that elevates the entire space.

Faux Fur Throw

Light-colored fake fur throw blanket.

Enter the faux fur throw blanket, adding a touch of luxe that’s pure cabin indulgence. Imagine tossing this faux fur throw over the bed or casually draping it on a comfy chair—it’s like adding a plush touch that’s all about comfort and style. Another texture, another piece that I’m obsessed with.

Yellow Flip Clock

Next, we have this yellow flip clock that is giving off major ’80s and retro vibes—it’s so irresistibly cute that I’m determined to have it on my nightstand. I can already imagine it adding a pop of whimsy to my bedroom and bringing that nostalgic charm every morning.

Olive Green Checkered Rug

Olive green checkered rug in a room with wooden furniture.

I found the perfect touch for the cabin bedroom—a checkered olive area rug that effortlessly weaves another layer of texture into the overall aesthetic. It’s not just a rug; it’s like the missing puzzle piece that ties everything together. Confused on sizing? Check out this bedroom rug guide.

Linen Duvet Set

Green, linen duvet set on a bed.

Every bed needs a linen duvet set. This duvet set comes in a beautiful green shade and is the missing link that ties together the area rug and drape colors seamlessly. Trust me- I love bedding!

Velvet Throw Pillow

Orange velvet throw pillow on a white sofa.

This velvet throw pillow is the perfect pop of color for the bed, adding that extra touch of warmth and vibrancy. Picture it nestled among the linens and creating a cozy nook—I’m all about those little details that make the bed as inviting as it gets.

Solid Wood Armoire

Wood armoire in a bright room.

Next, we have this solid wood armoire that is a stellar addition to the cabin bedroom that echoes the same cozy vibes as the bed with its matching wood finish. This piece isn’t just storage; it’s a design choice that keeps the room’s aesthetic cohesive and chic.

Potted Laurel Tree

Laurel tree in a large planter.

This potted Laurel tree is the perfect greenery addition to the cabin bedroom. You know how much I love styling a bedroom with plant decor – this is such a mood setter and infuses the room with a moody and cozy ambiance.

Checkered Wool Throw

Last, we have this checkered wool throw with another fun patter for the cabin bedroom. Trust me, having more throw blankets is the key to ultimate comfort- and this one is going to keep you warm and snug.
