In interior design, patience is not just a virtue; it’s an essential skill, and if you know me well, which most of ya do – you might know that patience is not really my thing. I wish it were, like, really. But the reality is, I can’t even wait to sip my morning cold foam iced coffee before it’s done pouring.

When it comes to designing and renovating a space, every single step takes time and lots and lots of thought; at least, it does if you want to get it just right. If you need some advice, please drop me a line here. I do 1-hour consults for all those little questions you want to confirm. Should we tile first or lay the floors? What’s the best white paint, how do you execute a smart living room space plan, from selecting the perfect accents (my favorites here), to choosing the ideal color palette or budgeting the cost of your bathroom reno – I’ve gotcha covered.

Anywho, I digress. One aspect that often tests the endurance of designers and homeowners alike is the waiting game for materials to arrive, especially regarding the long lead items. It will take six more weeks for the tile for the bathroom to arrive and 8 for the scones. Good news? The paint, faucets, medicine cabinets, and vanity are literally on the way. You guys! I can’t take the wait. I am so ready to get started! See all the sources below.

Collage of items, many of which are green.

But still, there’s a beauty to be found in the anticipation. I’ve started sourcing the floors. What do you think of this Engineered Downing Red Oak Smooth flooring from Floors & Decor? I am debating whether to go with the smooth or unfinished common hardwood look of the same red oak. I sorta like unfinished for the more organic natural look, but I like the price of the smooth. It’s almost half the cost and would require no additional steps once installed. OF course I even knocked out the yard sprinklers so we can start planing out oasis. More on that in a sec. Long story short, the wait allows time for reflection, allowing me to reaffirm my design choices and envision the final result. In the end, I know that day we are getting closer and closer to fire pit smores, BBQ tai-tip dinners, and day hike lunches on the coast.

So, while waiting for bathroom materials continues to test my patience, I want you (and me) to remember that it’s all part of the process. Embrace the anticipation, for the reward of a beautifully crafted bathroom is well worth it.

Lately, I’ve been exploring some fresh gardening projects for our cabin and have come up with some ideas for the side yard. Summer is right around the corner and is the perfect time to start gathering inspiration for your own beautiful garden. I’ve come up with the best thought process for planning a side yard – make sure you read about it on my blog post here!

Following the cozy cottage trend, I found this cozy entryway design that I am in love with. This space just exudes warmth and has the perfect woodsy charm with its art work and branches.
