Secrets of Cozy Elegance

It’s been a long week, guys. We have continued to remediate the cabin. The good news? We were able to keep costs down as much as possible, and the moisture is now completely gone – two weeks later. I am so thankful to be addressing all of this now; I still wake up in a cold sweat imagining if this pipe burst on us after a kitchen remodel.

In the process, we lost a ton of the original redwood board and batten that runs about 4 feet up and wraps the living area and library. I was careful to take many pics to add new redwood when possible. Hopefully soon. We will do one final clearance test to confirm that there is no more water and mold in the impacted downstairs area. Could you cross your fingers for us and DM me if you have any remediation questions? I am a pro now, lol. Brace yourself. You guys are getting the first look at the current state of the cabin. It’s not for the faint of heart. Could you send good vibes for this before and after?

That being said, we had a fun logo created from John at House Logos. Just look how adorable this is. We just sent them a few images and wa la. A few days later we had the most adorable cabin logo. Should I do this for my home in SF too?

While the interior of our beloved cabin is getting a gut, we turned our attention to the simple things that make a big difference. Check out our new patio furniture that I’m obsessed with. We’ve been parallel-pathing landscape designs and our ambitions with the outdoor space, and while we can’t tackle it all now, we knew we wanted a sophisticated area to sit and sip coffee under the redwood trees in the morning. I love these pieces from Industry West – can you see the vision? I dream of those summer afternoons sitting on that patio chair with a good book and a cold cocktail. Let me know what you think of the finds, and remember to check out Industry West for their modern furniture & decor. I’m sharing more about my patio nook here.
