It was a wild visit to the cabin this week. It’s one thing to see your ring camera footage and then another to see your space demoed-ish in person. The funny thing is that I get excited during any project’s demo phase. Still trying to figure out what it is about me, but I have a hard time messing something up at first so that it can be broken down into diamonds. Even if I know it needs it. I have to fight the urge to make it pretty as is – even if I do have a natural ability to make any space sing. I have to get comfortable in the mess.
Sometimes, I find myself half demoing, then cleaning up again and making it pretty for the moment. So, ripping the band-aid off – even with some help from the leak has kicked things into high gear with our remodel. The glass is always half full here loves. No more escaping to the cabin, painting a wall, and drinking wine all afternoon in the meadow. Does anyone else do this type of thing? We got a cabin to remodel now!
On that note, check out these tile options from Fireclay Tile. I love them all – each for different reasons. That being said, all of them would work wonders in the bathroom; each would infuse a different type of charm into the space while still relating to the mid-mod academia mood. I am also a big fan of this inspo that does a fun job of blending multiple colored tiles in the same color theory to create a unique textured look. Ya know, more than one tile for the whole wall. It’s something like the bathroom below on the left. I love the skinny floating shelf that runs above the ink in the middle image and the paneling all in. Pretty cool, right?
In case you forgot, here is the current bathroom. I want to keep the wooden wall but will consider the entire shower enclosure and tiling on the opposite shower wall where the new sink vanity, medicine cabinet, and antique brass wall sconces will go. Those are all still TBD. Direct message me: Should we use tile on the floor or wooden planks to connect the rest of the cabin? LMK!
Okay, we need to discuss one of my favorite parts about San Francisco: the rooftop restaurants. One of the best things to do while traveling is finding a new delicious spot to eat at. Why would you not want that meal with a good view? These restaurants are all places that I’ve been and can highly recommend. Each spot, whether it’s the atmosphere, the setting, the menu, or the lineup of signature cocktails, offers its own unique flair. Be sure to reserve your dinner spot at one of these restaurants after a day of soaking in the views and browsing through thrift stores.
